In the event of any inconsistency between this Important Information and in other Amazon Flex resources, the information on this page prevails.
Vehicle requirements
If you are delivering Amazon.com.au orders, you’ll need to use a 4-door private passenger vehicle, cargo van or light truck with an enclosed tray that complies with the weight requirements as set out in the Amazon Flex Independent Contractor Terms of Service located in the Amazon Flex app. 2-door passenger vehicles and trucks or utes with open beds or trays do not qualify.
It is your responsibility to ensure that any vehicle you intend to use meets these requirements at the time of each block and (if not) to ensure you do not accept any new blocks and/or that you act promptly to cancel any blocks you had already accepted.
Bluecard
Drivers in New South Wales are also required to complete Bluecard training before being able to perform the Services. Bluecard training is the minimum required entry-level work health and safety training program for the transport industry in New South Wales. See the below FAQ for further information.
Required attire
As an independent contractor, you are free to choose your attire while delivering with Amazon Flex. However, for your own safety, it is a requirement for you to wear closed shoes (both closed toe and heel) and a high visibility safety vest when at the station and making deliveries. If you do not wear the required attire, your route may be rejected by a station associate and you will not be able to pick up and deliver your block.
Large personal objects in vehicle such as a child car seat or golf clubs
You can have large personal objects in your car as long as your vehicle has enough space to safely accommodate all packages assigned to your route. If your vehicle cannot accommodate all packages assigned to your route due to the space taken up by large personal objects, your route may be rejected by a station associate and you will not be able to pick up and deliver your block.
Pets and passengers
While you have the option to bring passengers (including persons or pets), pickups and deliveries may take you away from your vehicle for long periods of time. This policy excludes service animals. Service animals are allowed at all times. If you decide to bring passengers, Amazon expects that you will comply with the following:
• Passengers will need to remain in your vehicle at all times at Amazon stations, unless escorted by a station employee for use of basic welfare facilities. At grocery or retail merchant locations, passengers are not allowed in restricted Amazon Flex areas.
• Your vehicle must have enough space to safely accommodate all packages assigned to your route and any passengers. If your vehicle cannot accommodate all packages assigned to your route due to the space taken up by passengers and pets, your route may be rejected by a station associate and you will not be able to pick up and deliver your block.
• Passengers may not perform or assist with your delivery services, including interacting with customers.
• Passengers may not drive the vehicle while you’re delivering with Amazon Flex.
Block cancellation
If you anticipate that you'll be late or unavailable for a delivery block, you must forfeit the block at least 45 minutes before the block start time.
When you accept a block that starts in less than 45 minutes, you have 5 minutes to cancel, cancellations after 5 minutes considered a missed block. See 'How do I cancel a delivery block?' in the below FAQ.
Undelivered packages
Undelivered packages are packages you tried to deliver, but were unable to. If you have any undelivered packages at the end of your block, you must return them to the returns area of the original pick-up location after your successful completion of delivering all other packages on your route, but no later than 10:00 pm.
Other safety requirements
• You are not to enter customer homes or garages under any circumstances, even if customer notes say otherwise.
• You are prohibited from carrying or using weapons.
• You must promptly disclose high-severity incidents to Amazon Flex Driver Support (e.g., collisions, property damage). Injuries must be reported as soon as possible.
• When picking up from an Amazon station, you must follow all station instructions, including routine safety requirements and all posted signage. Routine safety requirements include, but not limited to, following procedures for entering and exiting the station with your vehicle (stop, look), turning on headlights, flashing hazards, not exceeding posted speed limits, rolling down windows, turning off radio, removing any headphones and turning off vehicle when parked.
• When picking up from a grocery or retail merchant location, you must follow all merchant site instructions, including all posted signage and parking guidelines.
Alcohol deliveries
You must comply with the instructions in the Amazon Flex App relating to age verified deliveries including alcohol deliveries.
One Time Password (OTP)
You may be required to ask customers for their OTP when you deliver their package. This OTP must be provided by the recipient of the products in person. You must not obtain the OTP over the phone or in advance by any other means.
Drugs and alcohol
Amazon has a strict zero tolerance drug and alcohol policy. You must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol while While delivering with Amazon Flex, Amazon strictly prohibits Amazon Flex delivery partners from being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Any Amazon Flex delivery partner who is reasonably suspected to be providing delivery services while under the influence of drugs or alcohol will have their account inactivated, during which time they are unable to access the Amazon Flex app. This is to preserve the safety of delivery partners, Amazon customers and community members. If we determine that an Amazon Flex delivery partner was under the influence, it is grounds for immediate termination of the delivery partner’s contract and they are no longer eligible to deliver with Amazon Flex. To help ensure that any violations are identified, any person who reasonably suspects an Amazon Flex delivery partner of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol while providing delivery services may submit a report to Amazon. See the FAQ in the Safety section below for information on how to submit a report.
